The collection of works in this gallery has been produced over the past couple of years. They are grouped together to form mini galleries. Click on an image to enlarge and find titles, media and other information. Older work can be found in the Archive.
These paintings often start with an object of interest which I use as the basis for a composition. I build the still-life by recreating a setting and at times adding related items. There is usually some technical aspect which I find challenging and keeps the painting going to eventually reach a conclusion.
I have concentrated my study on the coastline north of Arbroath, the cliffs, the Flairs, Boddin and the lime kiln, and the Elephant Rock (St. Skaes, or St. Craoch).
This is a group of pen, ink and wash sketches produced on site as a prelude to more finished work.
The Lewis work was made during my residency at Garyvard, thanks to the Rendezvous Gallery in Aberdeen. Other work is made in Millhouse, Argyll.
